UPSC NDA (2) Exam 2026 — 394 Vacancies Notification Out, Last Date 11 June 2026 — Oshort Guide
Yeh opportunity kyun special hai samajh lo pehle. NDA ke through tum directly Indian Armed Forces mein officer ban sakte ho — Army, Navy, Air Force, sabhi wings mein. Training ke dauraan ₹56,100 per month stipend milta hai starting pay Level 10 se. Job security toh hai hi — Group A level commission hai, permanent commission mil sakta hai. Career growth bhi solid hai — Lieutenant se start karke Major General tak ja sakte ho. Allowances mein HRA, DA, transport allowance, medical coverage for family, LTC har 4 saal mein — sab kuch hai. Mere CSC pe ek candidate bola tha, “Bhaiya, fauj mein jaana hai — respect aur security dono chahiye.” Wahi baat hai, yeh dono cheez yahan guaranteed hain.
Exam date fixed hai 13 September 2026 ko. Written result tentatively October 2026 mein aayega, SSB interviews December 2026 se January 2027 ke beech honge, aur course start hoga 1 July 2027 se. Abhi se form fill karna shuru kar do, kyunki exam centers capacity ke basis pe allot hote hain — first-apply-first-allot basis hai.

Kya Tum Eligible Ho? — 4-Step Quick Check
Check 1: Educational Qualification
Army Wing (NDA) ke liye: 12th Class pass (ya appearing) 10+2 pattern mein, kisi bhi State Education Board ya University se. Koi specific subject requirement nahi hai — Arts, Commerce, Science, koi bhi stream chalegi.
Navy Wing, Air Force Wing (NDA), aur INAC (Naval Academy) ke liye: 12th Class pass (ya appearing) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics compulsory hai. Yeh 10+2 pattern mein hona chahiye, State Education Board ya University se.
Appearing candidates bhi apply kar sakte hain, lekin proof of passing submit karna padega Army HQ/Naval HQ ko 10 June 2027 tak. 11th class mein padhne wale bilkul eligible nahi hain — yeh clear kar lo pehle.
Check 2: Age Limits
| Category | Age Limit | Date of Birth Range |
|---|---|---|
| All Candidates (Male & Female, Unmarried) | Born not earlier than 01-01-2008 and not later than 01-01-2011 | 02-01-2008 to 01-01-2011 (both days inclusive) |
Important baat — koi bhi age relaxation nahi hai. Chahe SC ho, ST ho, OBC ho, PwBD ho — sabke liye same age band hai. Matriculation certificate pe jo date of birth likhi hai, wahi final hai. Koi horoscope, affidavit, municipal corporation ka birth extract — kuch bhi accept nahi hoga. Ek baar date of birth submit kar di, phir change nahi ho sakti kisi bhi circumstance mein.
Check 3: Nationality / Domicile
Indian citizen hona compulsory hai. Subject of Nepal, ya Person of Indian origin jo Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East Africa (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia) ya Vietnam se migrate hue hain — woh bhi eligible hain, lekin Government of India se eligibility certificate lena padega. Gorkha subjects of Nepal ko yeh certificate nahi chahiye.
Check 4: Physical & Medical Requirements
Physically aur mentally fit hona chahiye as per “Joint Order Manual of Medical Standards for Entry into Armed Forces (1st Edition)”. Permanent body tattoos sirf inner forearm (inside elbow to wrist) aur back/dorsal of palm pe allowed hain — kisi aur body part pe nahi.
Common medical defects jo rejections cause karte hain: wax in ears, deviated nasal septum, overweight/underweight, undersized chest, piles, tonsillitis, hydrocele/phimosis, gynaecomastia, varicocele. Mere CSC tip: Pehle 4-Step Check karo. Eligibility miss matlab application reject, fee waste. Ek bar medical stage pe jaake reject hone se achha hai pehle hi check kar lo.
Vacancy Details — Service-wise Breakdown
Total Vacancies: 394 (370 Male + 24 Female — provisional)
| Academy / Service | Branch | Male | Female | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| National Defence Academy (NDA) — 158th Course | Army | 198 | 10 | 208 |
| Navy (All Executive Branch) | 37 | 05 | 42 | |
| Air Force — Flying | 90 | 02 | 92 | |
| Air Force — Ground Duties (Tech) | 16 | 02 | 18 | |
| Air Force — Ground Duties (Non-Tech) | 08 | 02 | 10 | |
| Naval Academy (INAC) — 120th Course | 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme (All Executive Branch) | 21 | 03 | 24 |
| **Total** | **370** | **24** | **394** |
Female candidates ke liye sirf 24 vacancies hain total — competition bahut zyada intense hoga. Mere CSC pe female candidates ko maine hamesha bolta hoon ki extra preparation karo, kyunki seats kam hain toh merit bhi zyada jaayegi.
Application Fee — Complete Breakdown
| Category | Application Fee |
|---|---|
| General / OBC / EWS (Male) | ₹100 (Non-Refundable) |
| SC / ST Candidates | NIL (Exempted) |
| Female Candidates (All categories) | NIL (Exempted) |
| Wards of serving/ex-JCOs/NCOs/ORs studying in Military Schools / Sainik Schools | NIL (Exempted — certificate from Principal required for verification at SSB) |
Payment Methods: Online only — Net Banking, Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/Debit Card, UPI. Koi aur mode valid nahi hai. Fee once paid refund nahi hogi, aur kisi dusre examination ke liye reserve bhi nahi ho sakti.
Mere CSC ke Important Fee Tips:
- Last date pe payment gateway slow ho jata hai — server load zyada hota hai
- Successful payment ka receipt + transaction ID save karo — screenshot le lo
- Failed payment ki amount 5-7 din mein refund hoti hai — panic mat karo
- Cash payment KOI option nahi hai government recruitments mein
- Apply 7-10 din pehle karo — fee payment + form submission both relaxed rahega

Selection process — Stage-wise Details
Total Selection Stages: 3 (Written Examination + SSB Interview + Medical Examination)
Stage 1: Written Examination (Objective Type)
| Paper | Subject | Code | Duration | Maximum Marks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Paper I | Mathematics | 01 | 2½ Hours | 300 |
| Paper II | General Ability Test (Part A: English 200 marks + Part B: General Knowledge 400 marks) | 02 | 2½ Hours | 600 |
SSB Test/Interview: 900 marks
Dono papers objective type hain. Mathematics aur Part B of General Ability Test bilingual hain — Hindi aur English dono mein set hote hain. Negative marking hai: 1/3 (0.33) marks deducted for each wrong answer. Calculators, mathematical instruments, logarithmic tables — kuch bhi allowed nahi hai. Black Ball Pen only use karna hai OMR Answer Sheet ke liye. Face authentication mandatory hai examination venue pe.
Stage 2: SSB Intelligence & Personality Test
Written qualify karne ke baad candidates ko www.joinindianarmy.nic.in pe register karna hai (same email ID jo UPSC ko diya tha). SSB two-stage process follow karta hai:
Stage I: Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Tests aur Picture Perception & Description Test (PP&DT). Sirf jo Stage I clear karte hain, unhi ko Stage II mein admit kiya jata hai.
Stage II: Interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests, aur Conference — 4 din mein conduct hota hai. Personality ko assess karte hain Interviewing Officer (IO), Group Testing Officer (GTO), aur Psychologist — equal weightage hoti hai teeno ki.
Air Force (Flying) ke liye CPSS (Computerised Pilot Selection System) conduct hota hai Selection Centre pe. Jo CPSS fail karte hain ya Habitual Wearing of Glasses (HWG) category mein hain, unko Air Force Ground Duty branches ke liye consider kiya jata hai agar willing hain.
Travelling allowance (AC III Tier to-and-fro railway/bus fare) first time SSB appearance ke liye milta hai particular type of commission ke liye.
Stage 3: Medical Examination
SSB recommend karne ke baad Board of Service Medical Officers se medical examination hota hai. Sirf medically fit declared candidates ko Academy mein admit kiya jata hai. Medical Board proceedings confidential hain. Unfit declared candidates ko Appeal Medical Board aur Review Medical Board ka procedure bataya jata hai.

Previous Year Cut Off & Competition Analysis
Previous Year Cut Off Trends (Written Examination):
| Year | Written Exam Cut Off (Out of 900) | SSB Final Cut Off (Out of 1800) |
|---|---|---|
| 2023 | ~360-370 (approximate) | ~720-750 (approximate) |
| 2024 | ~355-365 (approximate) | ~710-740 (approximate) |
| 2025 | ~350-360 (approximate) | ~700-730 (approximate) |
| 2026 Expected | Slightly higher due to 394 vacancies | Merit may rise due to limited seats |
Competition Analysis:
Estimated Application Numbers:
- Total Applications Expected: 4-5 lakh (based on previous trends)
- Eligible Applications: ~85-90% of total
- Final Selections: 394
- Competition Ratio: Approximately 1000-1200 candidates per seat
Factors Affecting Competition:
- Prestige factor — NDA most sought-after defence entry
- All India competition — no state quota
- 12th level exam — huge pool of eligible candidates
- Female vacancies extremely limited (24 only) — intense competition
- SSB stage filters out majority — written clear karne se selection nahi hota
My CSC Observation:
“Mere candidates ka feedback: NDA ka competition consistently high rehta hai. Lekin smart preparation se selection achievable hai. Jo candidates 6-8 mahine consistently prepare karte hain — roz 6-8 ghante — unka success rate 40-50% hota hai written clear karne mein. SSB ke liye alag personality development chahiye.”
60-Day Preparation Strategy
Phase 1: Foundation (Days 1-20)
- Daily 6-7 hours study
- Morning (6-9 AM): Mathematics — Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus
- Afternoon (2-4 PM): English — Grammar, Vocabulary, Comprehension
- Evening (5-7 PM): General Knowledge — History, Geography, Polity
- Night (8-10 PM): Physics, Chemistry, Current Affairs
Phase 2: Practice (Days 21-40)
- Topic-wise practice — 100 questions daily Mathematics, 50 English, 50 GK
- Weekly 2 full-length mock tests (previous year papers timed)
- Last 5 years ke papers solve karo
- Weak areas identify karo — unpe extra time do
Phase 3: Speed Building (Days 41-55)
- Daily 1 full mock test — timed, exam conditions replicate karo
- Review har ek wrong answer — kyun galat hua, concept clear karo
- OMR sheet practice — time management crucial hai
Phase 4: Final Revision (Days 56-60)
- Light revision — formulas, important dates, current affairs
- Mock test frequency reduce karo — confidence build karo
- Proper sleep schedule — exam time pe active rehna hai
Daily Routine Sample:
- 5:30 AM — Wake up, light exercise
- 6:00-9:00 AM — Mathematics (most productive time)
- 9:00-10:00 AM — Breakfast + Current Affairs newspaper
- 10:00-12:00 PM — English practice
- 12:00-2:00 PM — GK/Science
- 2:00-3:00 PM — Lunch + Rest
- 3:00-5:00 PM — Mock test/Practice
- 5:00-6:00 PM — Analysis of performance
- 6:00-7:00 PM — Physical exercise (running, push-ups — SSB ke liye bhi chahiye)
- 7:00-9:00 PM — Dinner + Light revision
- 9:00-10:00 PM — Daily review + Next day plan
- 10:30 PM — Sleep (7-8 hours must)
Subject-wise Tips from My Experience:
Mathematics: Formula book banayo — har chapter ke important formulas. Roz 50-100 questions practice karo. Speed ke liye shortcut tricks seekho, lekin concept pehle strong karo.
English: Newspaper padhna shuru karo — The Hindu ya Indian Express. Vocabulary notebook maintain karo — roz 20 new words. Previous year ke comprehension passages practice karo — pattern samajh aayega.
General Knowledge: NCERT books (Class 6-10) padho — foundation strong hoga. Lucent’s GK ya Arihant se revise karo. Current Affairs: monthly magazine ya daily news app se track karo.
Seriously yeh mat bhoolna: NDA written sirf first step hai — SSB ke liye alag preparation chahiye. Roz 30-45 minute physical exercise karo. Group discussions, extempore speeches practice karo. Personality development pe kaam karo — jo fauj mein officer banna chahata hai, usme confidence aur leadership dikhani padti hai.
Sun boss, ek aur baat — jo candidates mere CSC pe aate hain, unme se zyadatar ek hi galti karte hain: written pe itna focus karte hain ki SSB bhool jaate hain. Dono parallel prepare karo. Written ke baad SSB ke liye time kam milta hai — usi mein panic hota hai.
Maine kai candidates ko dekha hai — roz 8 ghante padhke written clear kar liya, lekin SSB mein fumble ho gaya kyunki group tasks pe confidence nahi tha. Aur kuch aise bhi hain jo written mein average the, lekin SSB mein outstanding performance deke final merit mein aa gaye. Balance rakhna hai boss.
Abhi 11 June 2026 tak time hai form fill karne ka — pehle eligibility double-check kar lo, phir form bhar do. Aur haan, ek baar form submit kiya toh edit nahi hota — details carefully fill karna. All the best!
